Asociaţia AUM (RO) or AUM Association (EN), became active in 2018 and it was created by Alexandra and Florentina who share the vision of developing the local community of Sighişoara through non-formal education and active citizenship. Our commitment and main purpose is promoting and using volunteering as the main tool for a better society and open minded communities organizing non-formal educational activities for kids, youngsters and adults in the urban and also in the rural area.
AUM received the LEAD Quality ESC label till 2027 so we have all the needed resources to focus on three strategic development directions as Education, Community services/events and Culture from five different categories as social, environment, sports, art and local economy counting as usually on the support of the ESC and local volunteers who will decide to join our team and bring their knowledge, experience and good vibes.
Beside this we will implement Erasmus + projects as training courses and youth exchanges in order to motivate the young generation to adopt a responsible and supportive behavior. "Kill them with love and kindness" is one of our personal mottos and "Be the change you want to see in the world" is the professional one!
We are guided by Hope, Respect, Love, Trust, Forgiveness, Purpose and Change. We aim to create a multicultural safe space where our participants and volunteers can grow and develop harmoniously, can be supported and empowered.
AUM Association has the purpose of promoting solidarity among people and volunteering as a way of engaging in solving some problems faced by the community and developing complementary educational and personal development activities for children, young people and adults.
In order to step into this purpose, we implement projects that are financed with non-reimbursable funds by The European Commission through the European Solidarity Corps and Erasmus+ initiatives with the help of national and international volunteers registered on these programs.
We collaborate with members of the local community (artists, teachers, tour guides, students, local administration representatives, business owners, other NGOs boards) to assess the needs and the interests of the people in our town and we are grateful to have the support of partners such as local schools, public institutions, other NGOs or private companies.
These projects can be short-term or long-term and last between 2 and 12 months. Through our projects we have been offering non-formal education on themes like leading a healthy lifestyle, anti-bullying and civic sense. We organize activities for kids (summer camps, workshops, educative theme parties), youngsters (personal development classes, skill learning courses, public events for spending free time in a constructive way, civic and social responsibility activities such as cleanings), and adults (foreign language classes, creative workshops, etc.).
Asociaţia AUM aims to become the main element of support for volunteering activities and projects of non-formal education for the entire Sighişoara community, and a source of personal and professional deveolpment for its members, volunteers, participants and partners.
